LSP Intern Spring 2021 - Spring 2022

“My time with LSP has helped develop me into the coach I am today. The internship provided a comprehensive strength and conditioning educational component as well as extensive opportunities to practice and refine the more nuanced skills of coaching. This internship truly is a mentorship; I grew so much as both a coach and a person during my time there and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without this experience. They truly prepare you for a successful career in the field and I am forever grateful to all of the LSP coaches for this mentorship!”

LSP Intern Spring 2024 - Spring 2025

My time at LSP was the most transformative experience of my career as a young sports performance coach. I am incredibly grateful for the countless hours I spent learning from some of the best coaches in the field and for being challenged in a multitude of ways that fostered my professional development. I left Louisville with genuine confidence in my abilities, meaningful hands-on experience, and lifelong mentors who helped me feel fully prepared to step into my current full-time role. The trust and autonomy the staff instilled in me contributed to my growth more than I ever thought possible, and I wouldn't be the coach I am today without their guidance. I'll always be thankful for my time at LSP and I highly recommend this program to anyone seeking true, on-the-floor S&C experience within an elite ACC Division I environment!

The internship program with the Louisville Sports Performance staff is second to none. As an intern, I was able to gain invaluable coaching experience and knowledge under the direction of their multifaceted staff. The internship program was challenging, but having completed it, I feel confident that I have developed the tools necessary to be successful in the field of sports performance.

PT, Orthopedic ONE • Performance Intern, Summer 2010

My experience with UofL Olympic Sports Performance completely changed my career path as a physical therapist. Had it not been for the exceptionally talented and dedicated staff, phenomenal facilities, plentiful resources, and cutting-edge concepts and techniques, I would not have been able to excel in my field as quickly as I did. Being able to fuse knowledge and skills from both the medical and strength worlds, in order to collaborate and provide the best possible to care to athletes, is what made my experience unique and invaluable. Spending a summer with UofL Olympic Sports Performance was the best decision I made as a PT student. I was fortunate enough to learn a tremendous amount from leaders in the strength and conditioning world, make life-long colleagues, and jump-start my career in a specialty niche.

Coach, Tactic Performance • Performance Intern, 2011-2012

I spent almost 2 years working as an intern with the Louisville Sports Performance program and I wouldn't trade that time for anything. There aren't many places were intentional classroom coach education is combined with real on the floor coaching. This led me to be fully prepared to earn and accept a job upon graduation. I have since been in the public, private, team, and individual training environments and fall back on what I learned constantly. I'd recommend this program, the city of Louisville, and the people at LSP to any up and coming coach who is serious about helping athletes succeed.
